Samsung Galaxy S20 full specs leak: Why 120Hz display, 108MP Space Zoom camera and more make it a game changer

Barely weeks ahead of its launch, the Galaxy S20 series has been leaked in all its glory, revealing to the world the complete specs the devices from the line-up could sport upon launch.

Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy S20 series is scheduled to be launched on February 11 next month. The series has long been rumoured to feature three smartphones, with one of them even featuring a mammoth 108-megapixel camera and 16GB of RAM under the hood.

And barely weeks ahead of its launch, the Galaxy S20 series has been leaked in all its glory, revealing to the world the complete specs the devices from the line-up could sport upon launch.

Coming courtesy of trusted tipster, Ishan Agarwal and MySmartPrice, this new leak reveals that there will be as many as three smartphones that will be launched by Samsung this year. While this had been known news for a while, the leak also confirms the name of the device -- Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20.

The new leak also confirms the key specs of the device, including the presence of 120Hz display on all three models. The phones have also been revealed to come packing Exynos 990 chipsets for European and Asian markets. Interestingly, the sale date for the S20 Series models has also been leaked and is claimed to start on/ around March 13.

Galaxy S20 Ultra

Talking about the biggest device in the list, the S20 Ultra, the leak claims the phone will be a quite hefty at 221gms in weight. However, it will be majorly because it would sport a massive display that will be 6.9-inches in size. It would support 1440x3200 resolution and the Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED screen will boast of a native 20:9 aspect ratio and a centered punch-hole.

The panel would support 120Hz refresh rate, but it will only be enabled if you switch to the lower 1080x2400.

Under the hood there will be the Exynos chipset paired with either 512GB or 128GB storage options. While RAM hasn’t been announced, the S20 Ultra is expected to get up to 16GB of RAM. Apart from this, there will be a beefy 5,000 mAh battery.

The cameras will be the main highlight of the device. The selfie snapper in the centered punch-hole is being tipped to be a 40-megapixel lens supporting 4K 60 fps video. The rear camera module will feature a 108-megapixel main lens sat next to a 48-megapixel telephoto, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a ToF lens. Interestingly, the primary lens would also be capable of 10x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom from this setup.

Galaxy S20+

The Galaxy S20+ won’t have some of the bells and whistles of the S20 Ultra, however, the phone will still get some impressive hardware.

The device will feature a 6.7-inch display with the same resolution, refresh rate, and design we saw in the model above. The chipset will be the same as well. However, there will be a single 128GB storage variant paired to an unspecified amount of RAM and a 4,500 mAh battery pack. The phone will be 162x74x7.8mm in size and weighs 188g.

The camera set-up on the S20+ will be a three-lens one with a primary 12-megapixel wide, a 64-megapixel telephoto capable of 3x optical zoom (and up to 30x digital zoom), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. At the front, there will be a 10-megapixel lens capable of 60FPS recording.

Galaxy S20

The display on this one will be a 6.2-inch panel which will bring the same features as we saw on the device above.

The phone will again be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 990 chipset that's built using a 7nm process. It will be paired to 128GB of storage that's expandable via microSD. The device will feature the smallest battery of the three phones with a 4000mAh pack and will also be the lightest at 164gms.

But apart from this nothing else will be changed in comparison to the S20+ as it will bring the same camera set-up at the front and the back.

Galaxy S20 series: Why it could be a game-changer

The Galaxy S20 series phones are being launched at a very important time for Samsung. The three phones will be brought to the market at the juncture when Samsung is facing increased pressure from the competition.

As such, the Galaxy S20 series with the hardware that it is being tipped to pack looks likely to be launched as a radical upgrade on its predecessor, the Galaxy S11. From the spec sheet to the leaked design, the S20 series of phones are shaping up to be something special.

However, what could truly make it a game-changer is photography performance. This is especially true for the S20 Ultra which on paper at least looks like a camera beast with its 108-megapixel primary lens and the 100X Space Zoom tech.
